As you can tell by all the snow pictures I took this winter, it's been a very LONG winter this year. We were 2 inches away from breaking the all time snow record for Anchorage. Even at that we had over 11 FEET of snow. It will take a long time to melt.
I'm going to attempt to write our story first then add some pictures with a brief description later.
Putting the weather and snow aside, it was time to get out of Alaska and go on our much anticipated sister trip. Us 4 sisters like to get together every 2 years and just spend a week together. Just us 4 sisters, no men or children. We always have a great time. This year we chose to do a road trip that took us from Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona then back to New Mexico & Colorado and finally back to Alaska. There is nothing quit like being confined in a vehicle with your 3 sisters, (or who every), and having some wonderful educational, and surprising, honest conversations. It's amazing what you can learn from your older sisters who have more experience in life. We talked about anything that came to our minds. It was wonderful, except when the 3 "back seat drivers" were trying to help the driver find out where were were going, but were all suggesting different directions. :-) We eventually got where we were suppose to go. We were very thankful for a safe journey, no car trouble, no major health problems, and good roads.
I flew into Colorado Springs, Colorado. spent the night there w/Glenda at the Hampton Inn. Glenda was very tired and trying to go to sleep, but...I was so excited, it was very hard to quit talking. We must have said good night to each other a dozen times. HA HA! Once we did finally quit talking a light in our room came on automatically, BY ITSELF. We both looked at each other to make sure the other one did NOT get up and turn it on. Hmmmm...number mystery. We got up early the next morning, after a few hours rest, although I was not ready to get up until Glenda said "breakfast". That got me up real quick. :-) We then drove to Trinidad, Colo. where I finally met Wanda's VERY good friend, Dwaine. He took us out for lunch at a Mexican restaurant there in Trinidad. He tells some very interesting stories. He's a history buff and remembers dates like they were yesterday. It was amazing and very interesting to listen to him. Very nice guy. His name was easy to remember when Glenda would tease Wanda by saying "dwain the bathtub". HAHA
After lunch w/Dwain we transferred all our suitcases and goodies to the back of Wanda's truck. Drove to Santa Fe, New Mexico, all good dry roads, although a bit windy. When we met Alice we had a nice surprise of Alan, Dawn & Victor and their 2 kids. It was GREAT to see them. Little Ramon is 4 and wanted to go to the mall so he could ride on the Carousal. He was so excited. Arianna liked the "glow in the dark" miniature golf place. Both the kids are growing up to fast. We were talking about chickens, and were talking about the pros's and con's of having them. Glenda shared with Dawn that one advantage of having chickens, is that she could put their poop on Arianna's lips, to keep her from sucking on them and drying them out. YUCK!! But...I bet it would work. HAHA.
We did eventually make it to our hotel in Albuquerque, where we stayed for 3 nights. Once we found the right back door to get into the hotel,--- (Wanda led us astray, to the wrong door at first, and the one we were suppose to use was only about 3 feet further from the one we were trying to get in, but our keys wouldn't work. hmmmm mystery # 2) it was soooo funny to watch Alice and Wanda trying to find our room. It reminded me of some movie when they keep showing the same thing over and over. One person following the other and pointing and saying "it's this way." the other one would say, "no, it's this way." It was very comical to watch them. Glenda and I got a kick out watching them, and of course giving them a hard time about it later. "-)
Well...my story is taking to long so will stop here and add a few pictures then write more late. HAHA.
