Nice walk in the Snow

Angel and I went on a nice walk after our 4-6 inches of beautiful fresh fluffy snow today and on our way home we came across our neighbor and her dog Otis. He's so gentle and mild.

We came across these Bohemian Wax Wings that are migrating through Alaska. They are gray with red on their top notch and yellow on their tails. Hopefully you can tell a little by these pictures. They love to eat berries and left over crab apples.

Angel loves going on walks with me.

Vaughn in town

Vaughn came in town last night so since most of us were hungry for something sweet...we fixed it. We made some wonderful chocolate chip cookies. They turned out pretty good, if I must say so myself. He took most of them back home with him for the 3 bachelors that share a house. and I took some to work, so there are just a few for us, which is all we need. :)
Today our heater was not working properly, so Tom had to relight the boiler pilot light. Now we have heat again. YEA!! It made me a little nervous when you have to do that. It's kind of like lighting a propane grill. Fortunately, nothing bad happened. It is about 15 degrees out side and it was down to 62 degrees inside our home. It ws pretty cool for a while. Maybe I should have baked more tonight to warm up the house. :)

Finally the Rest of the Cruise

Cozumel was my favorite place. I really enjoyed just being outside and playing in the water and enjoying God's handiwork.

Look real close and you can see a turtle in this crystal blue water. Just absolutely beautiful.

I couldn't believe how narrow the streets were in Cozumel. They did have little cars, mopeds, horse and buggie and of course walking. We did take a short ride on the horse and buggy after we had walked along the beach.

Donald bought this hat from the guy on our catamaran that made it from Palm leaves, (I think). That's a grasshopper on the side of it. :)

The beach was absolutely beautiful!

Yep, I did it again, put the pictures in exactly backwards, so bare with me. We had a great time snorkeling. I took off my fins way to soon, and had to work pretty hard to not let the current take me under the boat. So I was pretty tired when we finished.

Yep, that's me out there. Tom stayed on the boat.
It's so different looking under water. The fish were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!

Beach volley ball anyone? I did really well at protecting my body from getting to badly sunburned, until here... OUCH! It was worth every second of pain I had though :)

Donald and Glenda enjoying the water.

Getting ready to go snorkeling. If you haven't tried it, you need to. It's a little tricky to just BREATH through your mouth. :)

No this is not me, even though I was tempted. Maybe next time?

I was trying to be creative with my photography. This is a picture of my chicken salad in a mango. :0)

Yes, I actually took this picture of the beautiful sunset myself. Just gorgeous.

Our beautiful ship ...

This is actually in Belize. I think this is the river that separated the rich from the poor. There was a distinct difference between the two.

Visit to Colorado Nov. 2007

When we went to Colorado Paul & Cindy took us to this neat park, that I don't remember the name of right now, but Paul & John were exploring with the sunset in the back. I'm so thankful we stooped to see them, since it was the last time we saw Cindy.

Little Aspen let me hold her!
I've been getting re-aquainted with friends from my past that knew me before I was married to Tom on Face Book. It's been
kind of fun, and it has made me miss all the family and friends we have in Colorado and the lower 48.

Have a Great Weekend

I just listened to Mari Smith a Relationship Marketing Specialist to try to learn more about blogs and face book. I still have more to go through, but what I've heard, I have enjoyed and got some helpful hints for face book and a few for blogs. I usually have to go over the material more than once before I'm able to grasp and put to use what I've learned. So...I'll keep listening and experimenting, when I'm not quit so tired.

golf of mexico - Google Maps

gulf of mexico - Google Maps

On to Santo Tomas' De Castilla, Guatemala

The ancestors of the Maya gave up hunting, fishing and began growing crops at some point before 2000 BC. Corn was the staple that allowed the great civilizations of what is now Mexico and Central American to develop in the large area.
Guatemala is Central America's most populous country with about 12 million people. More than half of them are Maya, the largest indigenous population in the region. They still live in small farming villages growning corn and beans as their ancestors did. World famous for their intricate handmade textiles of brilliant reds, yellows and purples. Most speak a variant of the Mayan language. Spanish is the country's primary language.

We once again had a great guide by the name of Anna and her helper was Mario. They spoke pretty good English. We actually went, by a small boat, to a little town called Livingston that took about 4 hours. Livingston is home to the Garifuna culture, a very relaxed, laid-back and playful Caribbean lifestyle. They even did a very special dance for us, that they prepared special. The young girls really knew how to shake their Boote. :o) They mainly used drums as instruments. I wish I knew how to down load the map and other information for you, but this will have to do for now. Maybe, someday I will learn how to do that.

Pretty Girl

We had a nice relaxing weekend. It was finally warm enough a friend and I finally went cross country skiing. I hadn't done that yet this year so I used muscles I hadn't used in a while. I was a little sore afterwords, but the hot Epsom salt bath helped.
Once I re cooperated from my outing, I gave Angel a pedicure and a bath. She looked so pretty and so soft after I finished, and she smelled a whole lot better. :o) Her nails nearly drive me crazy some times with all the clicking on our wooden floors. They are much better now though, for a few days.

More Cruise pictures

We chose to do the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins that took about 4 hours. It was very interesting and a lot greener than I thought it might be. We were in the middle of a jungle, which was cool. These ruins were Tom's favorite. He's the history buff of the family, so he loved it.
Miles and miles of powdery white sand line the shores of Costa Maya. Rustic bungalows and small hotels dot the shore line offering a relaxing alternative for those who want noting more than to gaze at the beautiful blue Caribbean Sea. A barrier reef, second longest in the world, shadows Costa Maya. The reef is a living underwater seascape populated by myriad varieties of coral, which harbor pink conch, sponges, anemones, sea fans, and around 500 species of fish including the grouper, angel fish, and pork fish, not to mention the rare sea turtles, which nest on area beaches year after year. We did see some sea turtles but did not get to swim with them, this time.

Once on board and we got our things in our room we were able to relax a little until they had the all important emergency drill. (just in case of an emergency). Thankfully we did NOT have to use it while on the ship. YEAH!

We're getting ready to board the Norwegian Spirit at New Orleans. It was still a bit cool. It took us about a day and a half to go from New Orleans to Costa Maya, Mexico. The seas were kind of rough going down, just at times. My sister had a little difficult time getting use to the motion, but got use to it. Donald, her hubby, enjoyed watching everything and everyone. He was up at the crack of dawn and at the very front of the ship, clear up on top so he could take it all in. It was fun to watch him. :o)
While on board we could eat, we had GREAT entertainment. The Norwegian Cruise Line Production Co. presented the high energy performance of "On Broadway" the musical. It was wonderful. I really enjoyed all the entertainment and musical groups they had in different places on the ship. It was great to go & just relax and listen to music.

loving sisters & towel animals

The housekeepers on the ship were great. They left us cute little animals made from the towels. We had a bunny, a frog, monkey and something else that I don't recall at this second. It was fun to have them on our bed when we would come in for the night.
I like these two pictures of my sister Glenda and I, just having fun and enjoying ourselves. (I don't know who that is behind us) :o)

We finally figuered it out .

YEAH!! We finally found out how to move the new pictures from the album to the blog!! (Actually Tom did)
We started with a city tour of New Orleans and a swamp tour. Both of our guides were excellent. I wish we could have had a tape recorder so we could remember more of the facts they gave us. Both tours were real interesting. We got to see the poor side of town as well as the very rich side. It was amazing! One thing they pointed out was at the cemeteries. The graves are above ground. It was unbelievable the size of some of the tomb stones and family plots.
A lot of the homes were decorated for Marti Gar (party time). The beads in the trees didn't show up but they were there. I enjoyed the big trees there. I wanted to climb them, but not enough time. Ha!
