Morning Mr. Moose

Just a quick note today... Something way back in my life, has made me a pretty curious person. Usually before I go outside, or go to bed, or whatever I'm doing, I like to see whats going on around me...or better yet--who or what is out there. (Maybe that's more it) Anyway, I think I'm some what claustrophobic. So...this morning when I stepped outside to go to work, about 10:30 am, I opened our front door, and about 10 feet away, was a young moose, just standing there eating our tree. As I started out the door, he just turned and looked at me, then went back to eating. I didn't see his mother, and that made me nervous. I came back in the house and went out the back door, where my vehicle was more easily accessible without getting to close to him.
Wouldn't you know it, today was one of those rare days that I did NOT look outside to see who or what was out there. We all need to be aware of our surroundings whether here in Alaska or where ever you live. Sooooo be careful.

Movie day

This was the first time Tom & I went to a movie together in ages!!! I don't even remember when it was or what movie it was. We went to see "Sherlock Holmes." Tom & Vaughn liked it and I thought it was ok, but not my type. I like drama along with a little romance. We went with 2 other couples that we get together with every so often. It was our friends 23 BD this week, so we celebrated it together. After the movie we went out to the Lone Star to eat. They usually have pretty good food, and we go there often enough that they know most of us by name. No discount though...

The fog was really thick today, and made the roads really slick again. The vehicles were covered with frost even under the car port. :( Hopefully soon it will warm up again, but then the beautiful sun hides behind clouds.

JANUARY 1,2010 FULL MOON

It looks so little high up in the sky, but the light it gives off and relects off the snow is absoutely beautiful. It brightens up everything.

Actually, I have to confess, this picture was not taken tonight, but it was a full moon on a cold winter night.

Welcome to 2010!

As another year has passed and we look ahead to 2010, I know there will be many changes in store for us. Some good...some not so good. I guess they will only be as good as we make them.

As I was watching the movie "Julie & Julia" tonight waiting for 2010 to arrive, I was hearing the fire works going off, and realized it had arrived. I came up stairs and stepped out side to the bitter cold, below zero right now, and the big beautiful full moon. It was like day light out side. The moon was glistening on the snow, and the heat from the houses near by was spewing into the air, with the smell of fireworks in the air. It is not clear enough to see the moon or stars very often up here, and when it is during the winter, it gets very cold. It was so beautiful and peaceful, looking out into our greenbelt with no sign of activity and the big beautiful moon shining ever so brightly.

I think 2010 can be as bright as the moon, IF we want it to. It will all depend on where our focus is and what we make of each day. Some days are easier than others to stay focused on good things, and with the support of family and friends that are only a phone call away, it makes it much easier.

If it was not 1:30 am, I would pick up the phone and talk to one of my loved ones that I'm missing right now.

I hope your new year will be filled with blessings from above and realize we are all very special and have something very unique to offer. Don't every give up on your dream, whatever it is.
