Love it...

I love it when I walk out the front door and have these beautiful tulips greet me. I can just hear them saving-"look at me and enjoy the moment while it lasts." So...I have. They are smiling even bigger now with all the warm sunshine we have had the last couple days. It was about 78 degrees today. Yesterday, about the same and we broke a record yesterday.

We fertalized our lawn last weekend and moved for the first time this year this weekend. We're giving it lots of water. I like to water it rather it needs it or not to help the Robbins find worms for their babies. There's just something sweet about the sound of one Robbin calling to another, then later this summer, hopefully the young ones will come and visit us. :)
It has been very warm in the house even at night, so we might end up moving down stairs where it's cooler for a while. That's where Tom likes to spend his time. :) No AC in most homes here in Alaska including ours. Can you imagine what we will be like once we move back to where it is really hot??? At least we will have AC in the home.
We got our windows washed inside and out, and boy does it make a difference. After the long winter, they really needed it. Our neighbor did the outside and I did the inside. It's nice.

Vaughn home

I forgot to add the pictures of Vaughn's house and some of the surrounding area. He is out there pretty far and it's pretty remote. He's finally gotten use to it, although it took him a while, since he's lived in the city most of his life. He is commuting back and forth to Anchorage, about 1 hour drive, 5 evenings a week for work.
One of these days I'll learn how to do add these pictures correctly. LOL

Springtime in Alaska-YEA

My tulips finally bloomed, and I'm trying my luck with the Peonys--Tom got my some lava rock to put around them to help keep the heat in when the sun does shine.

Once the snow melts and everything turns green and the sun is shining so bright, it just make our walk that much better.

Pot Luck

Darn, I forgot to take a picture of all the good food we had at our pot luck today @ work. I wonder why they call it "pot luck?" Anyway...we had things like curry, tofu, banana nut bread, and a huge bowl of fresh fruit that was the best. I made some chicken enchiladas too, that were pretty good for me. One of the girls commented that they thought Tom was the cook in our family, and she was pretty surprised when I told her that I actually made it. Two of the girls want the recipe. Hmmmm. Maybe we should do this more often.
MY TULIPS BLOOMED TODAY!!! Now that I can and will get a picture of. Laurie, you were right this winter, when you told me to hang in there, and that I'd be sending pictures of flowers soon. Thanks for encouraging me.

Moose joining us for

Yep, it's a real moose about 3 feet from our kitchen window this morning. It actually looks pretty healthy after the long winter we had. It was sure curious about our boat.
The swallows and the Robbins are back too. It's nice to see more life around. Most of our neighbors chickens survived and so did her bunny rabbit. She did loose one chicken though. Most of the geese and ducks are on their nests right now, and soon we'll have a bunch more little ducks and geese to watch also. They are so cute when they're young. Angel and I will need to take a walk to the lake again pretty soon, to see if any little ones have hatched yet. :)

Look who came for breakfast.

We were fixing breakfast this morning and looked out the window and was surprised to see this young moose investigating our boat and Angel's bed. It stayed there for a few minutes sniffing and smelling then finally mosied off, clearning our fence like nothing. They have really long legs and a very long head and nose.

More mothers day

This is how we spent most of mothers day, out enjoying the beautiful warm sunshine without jackets. YEA! Our neighbors inspired us to re stain our fence that we share, so we decided to clean it up first, with a power washer. After 15 or 20 years of dirt, grim, volcano Ash, and who knows what else, it was pretty dingy! It was amazing the difference after we washed it. It's almost the color it should be, a nice brown, not gray like before. IF it's nice and sunny and warm again this weekend we'll continue to stain it. It was just nice to spend time together doing something productive. :) Tom was saying that I tricked him into helping me like, Tom Sawyer did when he liked to do something. :) I guess it worked.

Mothers Day weekend

This was mothers day weekend. Winter has finally come and gone and this snow is now finally all gone! YEA!! We moved Vaughn back out to his friends house and these were some of the beautiful mountains on the way home. It was absoutely gorgeous! The sun doesn't shine as bright and beautiful as it was that day very often. Most of the time it's cloudy like the upper left picture. Then there are times when we can actually see the beautiful sun set from our back deck. The picture doesn't do it justice, but believe me it was beautiful. This is what was suppose to come up on the post earlier. :) I guess I need to practice more consistantly so I can make it do what I want. I'll keep trying. Slowly but surely.

Some Beautiful Alaskan Spring Pictures

Here we are driving back from Wasilla, Alaska where we moved Vaughn back with his friends. The sun was warm and bright, and the mountains were absolutely gorgeous! Almost breath taking.
