Mom Nogle & Brian here

All is quiet for a while so I can share a little what we have done since mom and Brian have been here. I put the pictures in exactly backwards. (sorry) We went for a nice drive out to Eagle River, AK. and went on a nature walk, and when we were there this huge bull moose, in the velvet, came out of the bushes. He was pretty. He eventually just went to the stream and started drinking and eating.

Nice picture of the Eagle River Valley with the Vaughn, Tom & Brian.
Once we got home we were just relaxing out on our back deck.

This was a fish ladder where we were watching for the fish to jump and try to make it up the falls. The salmon go back to the place they were hatched to spawn, then they die. It is amazing to me that they travel thousands of miles from their birth place to the ocean and back up stream to spawn.

Tom took them to the floating doc where we can see how drastically the tide changes. It's quit amazing. It was low tide in this picture. Then when we went back today, the area where they were standing was completely covered in water and the bridge was moving a lot. Mom and I did not go out on it this time. To much movement for us. :o)

This was the first night they were here. Tom took them for a nice drive to see the ocean. It was kind of cool, but nice.

Beautiful Alaskan Day

Summer has finally kind of arrived, if you call mid 50's to 60's summer :o). At least our flowers are blooming. These bleeding hearts are one of my favorites. Again, I don't have to do anything to them, except cover them with a few leaves in the fall to help protect them from the long winters, and uncover them in May so they will grow. It's wonderful! I like things that are simple and easy.
I finally got Angel, our dog, to stand still long enough for me to take a good picture of her. She is like our shadow. She loves being with Tom & I. While Tom is working in the shop or I'm out in the yard, she is always right there keeping us company. Tom has been working hard to get some finishing work done to the downstairs bedrooms, before his mom and Brian come up in 10 days. We are excited to have them here for a while. I finally planted a few more flowers around in their baskets to help add more color to our world.
Vaughn will be coming in town tomorrow and spending fathers day with us. He is still looking for work.

Our Back Yard -without snow!!

Just thought I would send a picture of our back yard. I tried to do a video and it didn't work so we'll just do pictures, (they don't take as long to load that way.) Anyway, more pictures of my tulips in our front yard, and our house without running water...just kidding. This is our shop that Tom has his tools, my bike and other stuff in. It's nice to have a place where he can go to work on his stuff. :o) You know, it's a guy thing...

Colorado Trip

We made a quick trip down to Colorado, May 16-20th for my nephew's graduation. Logan graduated with honors just like his sister did. We are so proud of him! Most of my family was there and it was good to see them again.
Tom enjoyed being out in the field with my brother-in-law most of the time. It got pretty warm, for us, while we were down there. A couple days it was near 90 degrees! I enjoyed helping my sister, Glenda, do things arround the house to get ready for everyone to come over Saturday night. There were about 30 people at my sisters home Saturday night. It was fun.

Finnally Spring in Alaska

Yea, my tulips are finally out and beautiful. They are really late this year, but they made it. :o) It's getter greener and greener each day, and more Flowers are coming out. I'll share more as they come out! I love this time of year!
We are up to about 16 or 17 hrs of daylight now and the days will continue to get longer. When Brian and Mom Nogle get here the last of June, there is NO darkness! (Just a few hours of dusk) It will be up to 20 hrs of sunlight. It's really different. We can be out side at all hours of the night and not even realize how late it is. Average temp is about 50-60 degrees right now. We have had a few days of near 70!! That was nice!! We can't wait for Brian and mom to get here.
