Sister trip-Aug. 2010

Some of the clouds rolling in, while we were on top of Pikes Peak. We were higher than the clouds. It wasn't long before it was so cloudy, we couldn't see a thing.
I'm kind of starting at the end of our 5 days together with my sisters.

Glenda, my youngest sister, and I standing at the bottom of Seven Falls, near Colorado Springs, Colorado on Fri. Aug. 6th. Our other 2 sisters had already gone home. It was beautiful.

Alice, and I getting ready to go white water rafting, near Buena Vista, Colorado. We did not take a camera with us on this trip, because...I didn't want to loose it or get it wet. This was one of the things, Alice had always wanted to do. So...for her 60th birthday, WE DID IT!! She was able to mark it off her "bucket list." We got up early @ 5:30 am, (early for me anyway) drove about 1 1/2 hours and got our gear, and had a ride down the Arkansas River in class 1,2, and 3 rapids. It was the first time for time for both of us and wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it might be. So...we're both are ready to do it again, only with more excitement! Possibly class 4 or 5 rapids. Maybe, some day.?!? Neither one of us paddled, we just enjoyed the trip, and watched our guide do his magic with the raft. It was fun!

We also took the Cog Train to the top of Pikes Peak. It was a beautiful trip. We took the mid morning train, and by the time we got to the top, the clouds were already rolling in. Almost every afternoon, the clouds would roll in and it would pour rain and hail at times. So, I didn't get to many pictures.

One evening, after the rain storm, we went to the Flying W Ranch, where they served our food, on tin plates. We had BBQ chicken, beans, baked potato, and a role. The best part was the live entertainment from a group of cow boys that played the fiddle, guitar, banjo, base fiddle, and sang all at the same time. They sang old country songs. I don't remember the name of the group, but they sure were good. We all enjoyed that a lot. We were sitting close to the front and they asked us about our hats during the concert. I'll tell you about them later.

Another view and proof we did make it to the top of Pikes Peak, with the elevation of over 14,000 feet. Our oldest sister, needed to take a break, and get rid of the altitude sickness. She was OK a little later.

Glenda and I being silly. We named ourselves, the Chick-a-Dee sisters. Don't we look like chicks? :) People would ask us if we were a singing group of something, and we told them we were just 4 sisters having fun.

Alice and Glenda, posing in the Garden of the Gods, near Colorado Springs. Another storm was coming in from the other side so we left pretty quickly. We really didn't want to get caught in it.

Paul, my older brother, had Grandpa Borden's 1931 Ford Model A remodeled and brought it to our family reunion in eastern Colorado the last of July. He even had the oooga horn on it. Him and his wife spent a lot getting it remodeled and we all really appreciate it and loved it. He gave anyone who wanted a ride. But...Paul made sure he was the only one with the keys. :)

Yes, Glenda had broken her arm about a month before our trip. She was mowing their grass and hit something and the "suicide knob'', on the steering wheel, whipped around and broke her arm. It was pretty painful at the time, but she did really well when we were together.

Each day we all wore the same color of blouse and we added the same hats to wear. We had a shirt made also with the 4 of us on it. It was delightful and a wonderful time of bonding and having fun.
